Thanks to QWineReviews for this lovely review of our Sparkling Perry 2021:
Sparkling Perry hits the tasting bench for the first time in a while. For a change of scenery, this is a fabulous aperitif or partner for a roast pork.
Some may ask, "What is Perry?" In short, it is pear cider, and in this case, it's made in the traditional method from locally grown pears in Orange, NSW. Matured on lees for up to 12 months, it was hand riddled then disgorged.
Bone dry (6.6% alc), this is the real stuff too and not the confected and commercially made gear that comes from concentrate.
Clean and crisp, the refreshment factor is high. Not surprisingly, the light and dancy pear fruit steal the show. Some white flower prettiness adds appeal but the texture and mouthfeel are the hook to drag you closer. Long and moreish this perry recently pulled in a gold medal at the Tokyo Cider Cup - one of 9 from 102 entries to do so. Respect!
